Funeral services for Lloyd Waldo Chapman, Sr., 67, were held Sunday, Oct. 28, 1973 at 4 p.m. in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul W. Kolb, pastor, officiating.
Burial was in Providence Memorial Park under the direction of Kidder-Cox Funeral Home.
Mr. Chapman died Friday, Oct. 26, at the family residence following an apparent heart attack.
He was a native of Calhoun and came to Lake Providence in 1937 as a pharmacist. He was owner of Chapman's Drug Store, and was a member of the Louisiana Pharmaceutical Association.
Mr. Chapman was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Highly respected by the entire community for his honesty and integrity, Mr. Chapman also was known far and wide for his ever readiness to assist in any way possible those in trouble or the less fortunate.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Hazel Chapman of Lake Providence; two sons, Lloyd W. Chapman Jr., and William Edward Chapman, also of Lake Providence; three daughters, Miss Diane Elizabeth Chapman of Lake Providence and Mrs. Francis Marzula of West Monroe and Mrs. Joann Barriett of Monroe; a brother, Orland Chapman of West Monroe; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Brown of West Monroe and Mrs. Myrtle Wyrick of Calhoun; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Eugene Galyean, Ford Land, A. C. Carlton, J.C. Butler, Dr. F. M. Terral, Howard White, W. B. Ragland, Jr., Charles Brackin and George Lensing.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Frank A. Cain, Dr. R. D. Graham, Dr. Thomas O'Sullivan, Leon Minsky, T. J. Oliver, Louis Minsky and Winston Eads.
A friend near and dear to the deceased was his pastor who dwelt not upon the sorrow of family and friends at Mr. Chapman's passing, rather Bro. Kolb pointed out the scriptural way that others might also know the "joys of thy salvation."
An truly his family will ever rise up to call blessed the name of husband, father and grandfather...Lloyd W. Chapman, Sr. was such a one!
